I managed to win a dinner at the Paul Bocuse restaurant, so I was then left with the decision of how to get there and when.
We finally decided to take the train from London, changing in Lille and arrived in Lyons a couple of hours later. I would recommend this as I am convinced its much quicker and certainly more pleasant than the airport and the chosen "low-cost" airline.
For hotel, there was a special weekend deal at the Metropole (V Cool Hotel), so all told it was a great success.
By the way, if you ever manage to go to Lyons, go to the Paul Bocuse restaurant (about 20mins outside town by taxi) - its exceptionally good. Catherine O'Grady
