Rome planning theme park to entice city break travellers

However,those going in a few years time will have a whole new reason to visit, with the opening of a Roman style theme park.

Although the real thing is good for some, Rome has seen a downturn in tourists so far this year, mostly down to the pricey euro, and the city break destination is reported to be thinking up new ideas to entice the crowds.

According to Richard Owen of the Times, there will be rides through a replica of the Colosseum and faux-gladiator wrestling, among other things for visitors to see.

Of course, until that time, the city has much for tourists to do and see, and with a downturn in prices it may be cheaper to get rooms in hotels for some, as traditionally hoteliers cut prices in bad economic times.

So whether you plan on waiting for the park, or want a taste of the real thing now, the Italian capital has one thing up its sleeve at all times; surprises.
