Head to historical city break destination Berlin

Mostly known for its east/west divide, Berlin is a spot that has now "recreated itself as a single entity" according to the Irish Independent.

Head for the Mitte district for a mix of culture and politics; two things which the city has seen a lot of in its recent history, and the reason for many to visit.

Of course, a trip to the remenants of the Berlin Wall is a must for most, so take a trip to Bernauer Strasse to the memorial of the barrier between the east and west.

Additionally the Irish Independent also suggests heading to the Reichstag, the building which houses the German parliament, for not only a lesson on German political history, but also some of the best panoramic views of Berlin.

The Brandenburg Gate is also a must-see, as is a stroll along the Tiergarten for a calmer and more relaxed Berlin.

A visit to the European destination is a must for fans of all things historical, and you will not be bored by the massive amount it has to offer.
