Barcelona offers much for all types of city breaks
That is the opinion of author Sebastian Fitzek, who has said in an interview with the Telegraph that the city is work of art.
"Every stroll through Barcelona is a walk through a living piece of art," he noted, adding that the first thing he does upon his arrival in the city is "put on my sunglasses, wander through the Old Town and buy lunch at the market".
The city's bars and restaurants offer some of the finest and most sophisticated crowds to be found, with Mr Fitzek recommending the El Raval district for cocktails, Port Olympic for coffee and Cinc Sentits in Eixample for the finest food in the city.
Of course it is also a great place to shop. From its huge department store, El Corte Ingles, to its packed markets and small boutiques, it offers something for everyone.
Whether visiting Barcelona for the first time, or paying it a return visit, one thing is for sure, you will find something new and surprising.
