Mediterranean Mountains
The island of Crete is renowned for its ancient history, natural beauty and, increasingly, it’s wonderfully varied walking. Following a short visit to the attractive harbour town of Chania, you explore on foot beginning with an ascent of Gingilos Mountain. From the summit you’ll get a real taste of the walking delights to come with views of the surrounding White Mountains, the deep-cut gorges and sparkling coastline beyond.
Deep Gorges & Ancient Legends
The Samaria Gorge is one of the natural wonders of Crete and what better way to discover it than to explore its rocky bed all the way to the sea. After a night by the sea, you’ve two further days of coastal walking, with plenty of time for refreshing swims, to explore further and to relax at local tavernas. Before heading for home there’s one last gem in store – an optional visit to magnificent Knossos, one of the Minoan’s greatest palaces and home of the legendary Minotaur.
Responsible Travel
