Naples & Vesuvius
From your base in bustling Naples see the atmospheric Roman ruins of Herculaneum and also have the chance to climb to the top of the legendary volcano, Vesuvius, and peer into its crater – activity permitting!
Capri & the hills above Sorrento
You’ll take a ferry across the bay and continue to a small village set high up in the mountainous island of Capri. From your base here you’ll visit the Blue Grotto by boat and see the iridescent ‘blue’ light. Back on the mainland at Sorrento you can visit Pompeii - buried and wonderfully preserved by the eruption of Vesuvius in AD79. Walk Pompeii’s ancient streets, keeping out of the cart ruts, peer into the deserted houses and explore the massive public baths that were visited daily. Finally, take time to admire the ever-changing views across the bay with a choice of enjoyable day walks and activities from your delightful base in the hills above Sorrento, a working agriturismo (farm) where the kids will have great fun exploring!
Responsible Travel
Using public transport throughout the region, you will also be staying in locally owned hotels. We finish our visit at the Agriturismo Fattoria Terranova in the hills above Sorrento. It’s run by the brothers and sisters of a local family, who remember holidaying at the agriturismo when they were young as the farm belonged to their grandmother. It’s also the family home for dogs, chickens, goats and Poldo the horse! You’ll get a real taste of Italian family life here, as well as maybe some of the jams, olive oil, vegetables or wine that are produced here…!
Take a unique, and exciting holiday with your family.
